Plastic is often the recipient of a lot of negative attention, but the fact of the matter is that as a material, plastic has allowed for countless innovations and advances within a huge range of industries across the world. Thanks to its many positive properties, such as being lightweight, durable and resistant to all manner of dangerous and potentially damaging chemicals, plastic is the go-to material for a number of different industries.

Packaging

Plastic is used to package all kinds of things, from food to medicine and even acids. The numerous beneficial properties of plastic make it perfect for the packaging industry - it can be moulded into whatever form necessary, while retaining its durability. This means that plastic is an incredibly versatile material and suitable for a whole range of different packaging. Plastic containers are used for household items, but they’re also used in the medical industry thanks to their extremely high durability against some corrosive materials. This means it’s used for hazardous waste disposal.

Transport

Plastic is a very popular material to use in transportation as it is easily coloured and highly durable. Thanks to the relative light weight of plastic, manufacturers were able to make vehicles lighter overall. This in turn meant cars and aeroplanes for instance became more power efficient and much easier to look after. Meanwhile, in the public transport sector, plastic can be found everywhere from seats to interior panels.

Construction

Plastic is absolutely essential within the construction industry, where it is used heavily in plumbing fixtures and piping. Plastic is also used throughout the home, in windows, flooring, panels and so much more. Plastic is used in the construction industry thanks to its ability to resist natural elements well, meaning it holds up both inside and outside of buildings. Plastic’s relatively low weight makes it suitable to be moved and carried during the construction process.

We’re able to see then that plastic, thanks to its many beneficial properties, is put to great use through a wide range of industries that involve items we use on a daily basis. At TCB-Arrow, we use plastic in a number of different industries - if you’re interested in seeing what we can do for you, get in touch on 01276 679394 or email us at enquiries@tcb-arrow.co.uk.
